3rd Down Jump
The 3rd Down Jump is the heart and soul of The MUSS at football games. On every 3rd down for the opposing team, thousands of students are raising their threes and screaming at the top of their lungs to disrupt the offense. It’s a living definition of The MUSS and truly a sight to see, the only thing better than seeing it is being in it!

MUSS Bus
If going to every home game just isn’t enough, join the team on the road! Once a year, The MUSS sends a bus full of students on the road to watch the team at a road game. A MUSS Bus ticket includes travel, lodging, and entry into the Utah Alumni tailgate, as well as entry into the game itself. It’s perfect for superfans who just can’t get enough of Utah Football!
FOOTBALL
MUSS Tailgates
Before every home football game, The MUSS puts on a tailgate for students—complete with food, music, and games. MUSS members gather on the patio of the Spence & Cleone Eccles Football Center to eat, hang out with other MUSS members, and compete for prizes like field passes and front-row tickets. It’s a great way to meet other students and get excited for game day!
FOOTBALL
MUSS Flag Football Game
Every year at the spring football game, The MUSS puts on a flag football game for students to compete in. Coached by members of the Utah Football staff and played in Rice-Eccles Stadium, students compete for bragging rights and spring game halftime recognition, while meeting other MUSS members and creating lifelong memories.
FOOTBALL
Fight Song & High Fives with MUSS After Games
At the end of every home game, stick around to sing the Utah fight song with the team and get high fives from the players! They stand in front of The MUSS and sing Utah Fan with the students in the section, and then give high fives to those sticking their hands over the railings. It’s a fun way to engage with players during the season and cheer them on for their performance!
FOOTBALL
Moment of Loudness
The Moment of Loudness is a Utah Football tradition that honors those lost in the Utah Family, stemming from the loss of players Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. During the break between the third and fourth quarters, the entire stadium puts their lights up and shouts in unity to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed.
FOOTBALL
MUSS Flags Run Out
Have you ever dreamed of being on the field during a college football game? Running out the MUSS flags gives you that chance! At every MUSS tailgate, we raffle off the chance to be a MUSS flag runner at that day’s game—come to the tailgates and you just might win that chance! Winners run out the MUSS flags onto the field during the team’s introduction and entrance into the stadium.
BASKETBALL
3-Point Jump
A spinoff of the third down jump, the 3-point jump at basketball games takes place every time a Utah player makes a 3-pointer. Put your threes up, jump, and get loud for the entire next possession to disrupt the visiting team!
BASKETBALL
U’s Up During Free Throws
During every Utah free throw, the band will clap and yell “throw up your U!” Following that, The MUSS claps and puts their U’s up during each free throw that the Utah player shoots.
SOCCER
Smoke & Drums After a Soccer Goal
Every time Utah scores a goal, smoke gets shot out and the drumline starts drumming to celebrate, adding to the fun environment of the student section at soccer games!
GYMNASTICS
Who Rocks the House Cheer
At every gymnastics meet, the Red Rocks come over to The MUSS to do their “who rocks the house” cheer. Chant and clap along to cheer the team on and show support!
ALL SPORTS
Lighting the U After Wins
Every time a Utah sports team wins a home game, the team lights the U on the mountain by pressing the lever on the Light the U box in front of The MUSS!
ALL SPORTS
Crowd Flags
At football, basketball, and gymnastics games, The MUSS has a crowd flag that goes up over the student section right before the game begins. Get to the games early and you might be lucky enough to be under the flag when it goes up!

Red Fridays
Students, alumni, and fans are encouraged to wear red on Fridays during the football season. It’s a great way to start the weekend and get ready to cheer on the Utes on Saturdays.
